Telcos Highlight Importance of RCS in Enhancing Customers’ Engagement – This Day
Telecom operators have highlighted the importance of Rich Communication Services (RCS) technology offered by Dotgo, in enhancing business-to-customer communication.
The operators who spoke at a recent media round table in Lagos, organised by Dotgo, said brands could use the RCS technology to effectively engage customers on new products, while leveraging the next generation Rich Business Messaging (RBM).
Partnerships Lead-Communication Products at Google, Johanna Kollar, said: “The adoption of RCS business messaging continues to grow rapidly. Brands across the world now want to deliver rich and interactive messages including images, GIFs, videos, carousels, and more to their consumers – RCS makes this possible.”
Speaking about the many benefits of using the RCS technology, the CEO at Dotgo, Dr. Inderpal Singh Mumick, said: “RBM enables brands to offer a next-gen customer experience with greater interactivity, improved trust, and advanced security……..”

Airtel Revamps Network to Deliver Faster Internet Speed, Enhanced User Experience – This Day
Airtel Nigeria has embarked on an extensive network optimisation and modernisation programme in a move to offer customers on its network, unrivalled data speed as well as enhance their overall mobile internet experience.
With the move, customers on the Airtel network can now enjoy a seamless, faster, and more rewarding experience when they browse on their phones or latch on to the Airtel Home Broadband devices including Mifis, routers and Outdoor Units (ODUs).
Commenting on the modernization programme, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Surendran Chemmenkotil, said: “Airtel is committed to ensuring that its customers enjoy the best and fastest Internet speed as well as network experience in the country.
Recently, Airtel Nigeria also announced a major upgrade and overhaul on its network infrastructure nationwide in a move to ensure its over 50m customers continue to enjoy the best experience on voice calls and mobile Internet services.

ICPC: Technology Key to Curbing Corruption, Illicit Financial Flows – This Day
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, (SAN), has identified the deployment of technology as crucial to the fight against corruption and Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs).
Owasanoye made this known at the presentation of demo hacking solutions by seven innovators at the ICPC Headquarters, Abuja.
The hacking solutions are aimed at curbing corruption and IFFs in the government budget and Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) procurement processes in Nigeria.
In his welcome remarks, the ICPC Chairman stated that the role of technology would not be underrated in the fulfilment of the commission’s mandate of investigation and prosecution of breaches of the law.
“Technology is crucial to eliciting, analysing and preserving evidence for prosecution. In the past three years, the commission has invested in technology to enhance its forensic capability and trained staff in digital documents analysis, handwriting analysis, poly-graphic technology, and sundry skills.
He emphasised the need for collaboration by law enforcement agencies in the deployment of more technology to help in reducing the opportunity for money laundering. Read more here.
Bridge Gap Recruitment App Goes Live – This Day
BridgeGap Consults Limited, an Information Technology company has introduced a recruitment application (app) that seamlessly connects employers with their prospective employees.
It aims to revolutionize job applications, improve efficiency and reduce bottlenecks in the recruitment process for organizations. According to the firm, by virtue of its activation on September 5, 2022, the App is available to users and can be downloaded on Apple Store, Android Play store or through the company website.

‘Development Of Smart Cities Will Address Nigeria’s Population Growth, Rural-Urban Migration’ – Independent
Following the United Nation’s estimate of Nigeria population hitting 411 million by 2050 and the attendant rural-urban migration challenges, Sir Demola Aladekomo, Founder of Chams Plc and Executive Chairman of SmartCity, has called for the development of Smart Cities in the country by the government through Public Private Partnerships (PPP).
This call was made at the 8th edition of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (LCCI) 2022 Information Communication Technology and Telecommunication (ICTEL) Expo held in Lagos recently.
Aladekomo, who spoke on Efficient Digital Infrastructures through Smart Cities said that “migration should be seen as a process and not a problem……..”
With polycentricity, we can begin to create new decentralized cities and settlements around Lagos for example and manage them digitally from the beginning by making them technology-enabled.
Aladekomo further proposed the leapfrogging of relevant technology toward resolving infrastructural deficits. But to achieve this, the government must recognize population growth as an opportunity, accept that smart cities should be created, accept Rural-Urban migration, not as a threat but as reality, use agglomeration, a polycentric approach to governance, and use technologies to play crucial roles in the development and administration.
